The Farrier. A New Heart for an Old Soul.

Situated on the beautiful North Yorkshire Coast between Scarborough and Filey in the village of Cayton, stands the former ‘Smithy ‘ and ‘Inn’. For more than 200 years the cottages on the corner of Church Lane and Main Street were of service to locals and travellers alike with the resident blacksmith shoeing horses and offering hospitality.

After an extensive 3-year renovation project The Bushby Family have breathed new life into this historic site and were proud to open the doors to ‘The Farrier’ in December 2018. Our ethos was to simply offer boundless hospitality and embrace the principles of unpretentious first class service in a wonderfully luxurious yet relaxed and friendly setting. To help us achieve this we were thrilled to have the opportunity to bring together an exciting new team featuring a combination of highly talented chefs, each one dynamic in their own right.

Together they have fused their expertise and creativity to develop a variety of dishes that offer exciting food combinations, both modern and traditional, showcasing the best produce that our local farmers and suppliers have to offer. They pride themselves on their ever-changing seasonal menus which are always prepared to perfection and are committed to satisfying all dietary requirements offering gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options.

The Farrier also has four individually designed, equestrian-inspired bedrooms within the main building and a fifth bedroom situated in The Old Stables on our courtyard. In a nod to the equestrian heritage associated with 89 Main Street, each room pays homage to various equine tales and endeavours. Each of our beautifully appointed, boutique-style bedrooms, have en-suite facilities and feature our locally produced Harrison Spinks blissful beds.

We believe that the hospitality of an era long since gone, combined with the unashamed luxury modern conveniences and high-end comforts required by today’s guests bring a new standard of boutique experience to the area.
